BBC let down Metallica on Live Earth

I don’t suppose I’m the only person feeling let down by the BBC by cutting short Metallica’s Live Earth set at Wembley today?

The BBC clearly felt viewers would be more interested in listening to Jonathon Ross and Stephen Merchant’s drivel instead. They cut off the whole of Enter Sandman, in order to play some more potentially less offensive music from other foreign venues. If I wanted to listen to these other venues, I’d press the red button or wait till later in the night when the BBC had scheduled time for this on BBC1.

I’m mostly dissapointed because the BBC have demonstrated general ignorance towards their music audience and un-grounded fear the Metallica would curse and swear and sacrafice pigs for satan through-out their set, non of which they did or are generally known to do. I’d say Metallica were among the more mature acts performing who respect the time of day they were performing.

Next time lets hope the BBC gets a director who knows something about music.
